Lockdown baby photo shoot in park
LITTLE ones born in lockdown will be the stars of a special photoshoot this weekend - and more new parents are being encouraged to bring their little bundles of joy along too.
Unlike other new mums, those who gave birth in lockdown have not had chance to go through the age-old tradition of ‘ showing off’ their baby to family and friends due to coronavirus restrictions.
It has also stripped many of them of the opportunity to be able to do other ‘ normal new parent’ things, like attend baby classes with their new little ones or even attend weigh-in sessions for them.
Penny Lacroute is one of these mums.
The Nuneaton resident gave birth to little Phoebe during lockdown and she’s the first to admit it has been hard.
“It’s natural to want to show your baby off, to go and see family and friends,” she explained.
“I was so excited when I was pregnant, I was really looking forward to showing her off, I haven’t been able to take her into work, no-one has had a little cuddle with her.
“It’s been really hard not to be able to do things like this.”
Keen to do something, she spoke with some other new mum friends and came up with the idea of a photoshoot.
“I have a few friends who have also had babies and they feel the same - so I thought about organising a photo shoot,” she said.
“We will all be wearing masks, sticking to the two metre rule, it will all be socially distanced, we just want to do something and create a special keepsake to show our babies in years to come and to tell them what was happening in the world when they were born.”
The event is being held on Sunday in Riversley Park, Nuneaton - and word about it has soon spread.
“I set up a Facebook page and we have had people say they are coming from Bedworth, Tamworth, the more the merrier,” added Penny, who is engaged to fiancee Luke Russell. “I am hoping there will be a good turn out. We just wanted to do something nice for all the new parents.”
