THE visitor ban at Nuneaton’s maternity unit has been lifted - but all is not back to normal yet.

Staggered ward visiting times for maternity patients on Drayton Ward at the George Eliot Hospital is now available.

Visiting times to Drayton ward will be staggered, and visitors will be capped to eight for each allocated time slot.

A post on the Eliot’s website states: “Women will be able to book a time slot for one birth partner only through the ward staff.

“Visitors will only be able to attend the ward during their booked visiting time, and will be required to leave at the end of their timed slot, irrespective of their actual arrival time.

“Visitors will be health screened prior to admission to the Ward or scan area. This will involve a temperature check and answering Covid screening questions, visitors will be required to wear a mask.

“Visitors with a high temperature or suspicion of Covid infection from the health screening questions will be asked to leave the trust premises and to self isolate at home.”

Women can now have one adult accompany them to their 12 and 20 week scan at the maternity unit. There are strict rules in place.

There are no visitors allowed to attend any other scans at this stage, however the hospital is looking to support this in the near future

Only parents are currently able to attend the unit. No other family members, siblings or friends are able to visit at this time.

One parent is able to be with their baby for an unrestricted period of time each day.

The second parent is able to be present during an allocated four hour slot.
