POLICE have identified a taxi driver they were keen to trace following a triple shooting in Coventry last week.

Three men were shot in Far Gosford Street shortly after 10pm outside a Chinese takeaway on Thursday September 17.

In the wake of the incident, which West Midlands Police described as “outrageous violence” they issued an appeal to trace a taxi driver who was in the vicinity at the time.

He is now helping officers with their enquiries but West Midlands Police have again appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

A force spokesman said: “We’ve identified a taxi driver who is helping our enquiries into a shooting on Far Gosford Street last Thursday (September 17), after we appealed for help to trace him.

“The man is now assisting with our investigation, but we are still appealing for anyone with further information to get in touch.”

All three men who were shot have now been released from hospital.

The spokesman added: “Three men were taken to hospital just after 10.15pm last Thursday after they were shot. Thankfully, all three have now been discharged from hospital. No arrests have been made so far in the investigation and we are urging anyone who knows anything to get in touch with us.”

CCTV footage shows a group of people fleeing for safety as gunshots rang out at around 10pm, leaving three people with injuries.

Anyone with information can contact West Midlands Police via Live Chat on the force website or call 101 quoting 20CV/224909R/20. Alternatively people with information can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
