Number of coronavirus cases in Cov & Warks continue to rise
THE number of coronavirus cases in Coventry continues to rise - as the rate per 100,000 people nears 40.
As of the seven days up to September 18 - the latest date for which figures are available - the rate in Coventry stood at 38.22 with 142 positive cases in that period.
That’s up from 36.07 in the seven days up to September 17.
Cases are also rising in
Warwickshire and the overall rate for the county stands at 28.55 with 165 cases in the last seven days.
Rugby’s rate continues to rise quickly, and now stands at the highest in all of Coventry and Warwickshire at 55.08.
Despite the increase both Coventry and Warwickshire remain below the regional average rates.
The rate for the West Midlands
Combined Authority area stands at 65.08 with 1,906 cases over the last seven days. For the West Midlands Region the rate is 42.96 with 2,549 cases.
Solihull’s rate is 57.31 with 124 cases.
The town is subject to local lockdown restrictions which were introduced last week and also cover Sandwell and Birmingham.
The rising rates have prompted further action from the government to try and stem the spread of the virus.

Rugby: Rate of 55.08 cases per 100,000 people, 60 cases in the last seven days
North Warwickshire: Rate of 30.64 cases per 100,000 people, 20 cases in the last seven days
Nuneaton and Bedworth: Rate of 29.26 cases per 100,000 people, 38 cases in the last seven days
Stratford-on-avon: Rate of 18.45 cases per 100,000 people, 24 cases in the last seven days
Warwick: Rate of 16 cases per 100,000 people, 23 cases in the last seven days
