New City stars make fast start

COVENTRY City have done pretty much most of their business in the summer transfer window.

Mark Robins has drafted in eleven new players to date with just a few loose ends to tie up between now and when the domestic window shuts on Friday.

We are yet to see a number of the Sky Blues’ new recruits, with the likes of German winger Marcel Hilssner and French wing-back Julien Dacosta yet to make their debuts because of injury.

But most of the others are settling in nicely, with some already having quickly established themselves in the starting line-up in the opening four Championship games.

Sadly for standout midfielder Gus Hamer, he is set to miss the next three fixtures due to serving a three-match ban for his sending off against Bournemouth. But otherwise the Dutch/ Brazilian is one of the first names on a team sheet packed full of competition for places.

Left wing-back Ryan Giles has been quick to stamp his mark in the side since he re-joined from Wolves on a season- l ong loan, with Sam Mccallum breathing down his neck since returning to the club on loan from

Norwich City. And at the back fans have seen Leo Ostigard make a good first impression on loan from Premier League Brighton where he is currently battling for position with Michael Rose.

The Norwegian has proved to be a real goal threat from set pieces and it’s arguably a case of weighing that up against the man who is seen as Robins’ best defender.

As the sharp end, Matty Godden continues to be firstchoice striker after hitting three goals in his first four games as Nottingham Forest capture Tyler Walker and Amadou Bakayoko continue to wait for their chance to impress from the start for Sky Blues.
