Marston’s announce thousands of job cuts
DOZENS OF PUBS ACROSS THE REGION COULD BE AFFECTED
THOUSANDS of jobs are set to go at pub chain Marston’s, it has today been announced.
The chain, which has pubs across Coventry and Warwickshire, has announced that around 2,150 of its pub workers are set to be impacted by the cuts.
It is believed that those affected will be those currently on furlough support.
And, in a further blow, a further cost-cutting plan is set to follow later in the year.
Announcing the job cuts on Thursday (October 15), Marston’s blamed lockdown restrictions and curfew measures put in place, claiming that these have hammered their trade.
This includes the tier three measures in places like Liverpool, where sites not serving food have once again been ordered to close.
The pub and brewery group has sites across the UK, including seven in Coventry, eight in Nuneaton, and more across the rest of the county.
At this time, it is not known in which regions and pubs that job losses will be found.”

Ralph Findlay, chief executive of Marston’s, said: “The additional restrictions which have been applied across the UK most recently present significant challenges to us and will make business more difficult for a period of time.
“I very much regret that the consequence of this is that the jobs of around 2,150 of our colleagues will be impacted, but it is an inevitable consequence of the limitations placed upon our business.
“We will be looking at our cost base further in the coming weeks.”
