AN 11-year-old girl has been left fighting for her life after a collision in Coventry.

Emergency services were called to Tamworth Road, following reports of a collision between a car and a pedestrian, at around 6pm on Thursday.

It has been confirmed that a girl was hit by a car, resulting in her suffering multiple, serious injuries which have been described as life threatening.

Ambulance crews arrived at the scene to find a member of the public performing CPR on the girl before paramedics West Midlands Ambulance Service took over.

She was then taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire with a doctor and critical care paramedic on board continuing treatment.

In total, three ambulance crews, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance Critical Care Car attended the scene.

The driver of the Toyota

Verso car, a 53-year-old man, was also treated at the scene.

He was taken to UHCW for further treatment.

West Midlands Police yesterday confirmed that they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision - urging anyone with information to contact them.

A spokesperson for the West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “Crews arrived to find a girl, the pedestrian, in a critical condition after coming into collision with a car, with bystander CPR already in progress.

“Staff then took over in administering life support to the patient whilst getting her on to the ambulance.

“She was then taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire on blue lights and sirens with the doctor and critical care paramedic on board continuing treatment.

“The second patient, a man, believed to be the driver of the car, was also treated at the scene and conveyed to UHCW for further assessment.”
