Appeal as teen girl grabbed in kidnap attempt

POLICE are looking to speak to a man following the attempted kidnapping of a teenage girl last month.

Officers believe a girl was approached by a man at a bus stop on St James Lane in Willenhall on Friday, February 12, at around 3.30pm.

He grabbed her by her wrist and coat, but fortunatel­y the girl managed to get away. She made her way home and called the police.

She was not physically injured during the incident but understand­ably has been left very shaken.

West Midlands Police are now looking to speak to this man, who can be seen wearing a black hoodie and blue shirt whilst travelling on a bus.

Police are asking anyone with informatio­n to contact them as a “matter of urgency”.

An appeal reads: “Do you recognise this man? We want to speak to him following an attempted kidnap on St James Lane, Coventry, at 3.30pm on Friday, February 12.

“We believe a teenage girl was approached by a man in a bus stop, where she was grabbed by her wrist and coat. Fortunatel­y she was able to escape and made her way home where the police were called.

“She was not physically injured, but undoubtedl­y this will have caused a great deal of distress.

“His image has been shared internally, but we are now asking for your help to identify him.
