A NUNEATON secondary school has issued a ‘stranger danger’ warning to parents and carers after a pupil reported being followed by a man.

A Higham Lane School pupil, a girl, reported being followed by a man on her way to pick up a sibling from St Nicolas Primary School.

The incident was reported on Wednesday afternoon as the girl walked along Brookdale Road. She claimed she was followed by a white man, described as an ‘older man,’ dressed in black and wearing a hat.

She reportedly changed direction at one point and he continued to follow her. When she got close to the Windermere Avenue School she spotted a family member. She said at this point the man got into a white van.

As a result, Higham Lane School has issued a warning which has been circulated to parents and carers.

This is the third incident of this kind to have taken place in Nuneaton in just under a week.

A message from the Warwickshire Safeguarding Board was sent parents at schools across the Stockingford area following an alleged stranger danger incident on Arbury Road on March 18.

An unknown man allegedly approached secondary schoolgirls, who then raised it with their school.

Then, on Tuesday, two Higham Lane pupils reported that a man was standing in between two bushes at the back of Sainsbury’s supermarket in Riversley Park.

He was reportedly ‘behaving inappropriately.’

The pupils raised the alarm with the Shanklin Drive-based school about the man, who has been described as white, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, around 5ft tall, dressed in black and wearing a black face mask.

The Telegraph has contacted Warwickshire Police in regards to the three incidents.
