New bar set to open its doors in city

WITH the easing of lockdown just around the corner, a new drinking establishment is set to open its doors for the first time in the coming weeks.

Dhillon’s Spire Bar is the latest place people can go to try a selection of real ales and you can now book your slot up for an outdoor get together.

The relaxing of restrictions permits pubs to open for outdoor customers from April 12, and it is under these circumstances the Spire Bar will open its doors for the first time.

The venue was originally due to open in February, but the lockdown imposed at the beginning of January meant there was a delay.

It will be housed in the historic Christchurch spire on New Union Street in the city centre, formerly home to Inspire.

However, it will now reopen as the Spire Bar, with the company working hard to do up the venue and get it ready for custom.

If you’re one such person who can’t wait to get in a beer garden, or just want to try out the city’s newest bar, you can book a place at the bar’s outdoor seating area which overlooks the Bull Yard.

The bar is under the umbrella of Dhillon’s Brewery, the popular city beer makers with a site near to the Ricoh Arena. Dhillon’s is known for its incredible ales and partnership with Coventry City.

The partnership produced Stout of the Vanilla, a unique real ale which not only tasted good but also raised smiles among both Coventry City and Birmingham City fans everywhere.

Dhillon’s also collaborated with charity Coventry Pride to create a pale ale for Valentine’s Day in February.

The tipple, entitled Unity, was made with the idea to “reflect both the immense diversity of our world, and to stand in unity with the LGBTQ community”.
