Six city takeaways in running for top award

SIX takeaways in Coventry have made it through to the semi-finals of the Great British Kebab Awards.

The awards are in their ninth year and recognise and champion the efforts of local kebab takeaways and restaurant­s across the UK.

Run in associatio­n with Just Eat and supported by the Kebab Alliance, there are 18 awards up for grabs when the ceremony takes place in London on October 26.

Six different Coventry-based eateries are in the running for the awards...

Best Kebab Restaurant Regional: Pasha Turkish Grill, Far Gosford Street

Best Newcomer Restaurant in London/outside London: Sofra Anatolia, Barras Green Best Takeaway Regional: German Doner Kebab, The

Burges Popeyes Food Fare, Jardine Crescent, Tile Hill

Best Value Restaurant: Sofra Anatolia, Barras Green Customer Satisfacti­on: Alaturka Doner, Smithford Way Best Labenese Restaurant: Aqua Food and Mood, Butts Other sponsors also include leading household brands and major players in the kebab industry, including Unilever and its leading brands Hellmann’s and Ben & Jerry’s. Other sponsors include Cobra Beer, Big K Charcoal, Bookers, Coca-cola, Alton and Co Accountant­s, Atlacarte, DD Points, Troy Digital, Mccain Foods and Foodelo.
