HOW THEY RATED

- By Andy Turner

STARTING FORMATION: 3-4-1-2 MARKO MAROSI:

Rarely troubled in the first 30 minutes but called upon in the 36th when he blocked bravely to deny Nahki Wells at the near post. 7

LEO OSTIGARD: Scored his first goal for the club from a low shot from a loose ball from a long throw-in. Headed very well throughout, winning every aerial challenge. 8.5

KYLE MCFADZEAN: Aggressive and determined as he returned to the middle of the back three where he made a brave clearance to deny Bristol a first half equaliser. Solid at the back against big centre-forward Diedhiou. Spoiled an otherwise faultless display when he played a short back pass to allow Wells to score. 7

JOSH PASK: Showed his versatility by slotting in effortlessly to the left of the back three where he read the game well and defended well. 7.5 JOSH ECCLES: Took time to settle into the game and a big occasion for the lad who was tasked with marking Nahki Wells but grew in confidence and played some lovely forward passes and was denied by the keeper early in the second half. Sent in some good crosses on an impressive full Championship debut. 7

LIAM KELLY: Brought plenty of stability and a calm head to the middle of the park where he was influential. 7

MATTY JAMES: Showed all his experience to tackle well and distribute the ball well with some outstanding passing to spark attacks. 7.5

SAM MCCALLUM: Got forward well, sending some decent crosses into the box and it was from his long throw that City scored early. Had his work cut out keeping tabs on the lively Antoine Semenyo. 7 CALLUM O’HARE: Lively from the start, the busy attacking midfielder linked up well with Godden whom he fed for a terrific early chance that was denied by a good save. Set up the all important third goal. 8 MATTY GODDEN: Worked hard and displayed good movement, none more so than when he pulled wide in the box for an early chance that the keeper pushed onto the post. Hit a clinical finish from the spot to give City a two-goal cushion as he looked back to the player fans know and love. 7.5

TYLER WALKER: Ran well, getting into some decent positions and sent a decent half chance over the bar before the break. Won the penalty and had a hand in the third. 7
