THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised for a Bedworth family left with only the clothes they were wearing after a devastating fire at their home.

In just a matter of days the Gofundme page for ‘Jo and her family’ had almost hit the £3,000 mark and the total continues to rise.

The family-of-six reportedly lost everything as flames ripped through their home in Gibson Crescent.

To help them rebuild their lives, a fundraising appeal was set up for them by Vicky Hood.

The page explains the mum, named as Jo, is a carer and is ‘one of life’s unsung heroes’ and has given so much to the community.

So the page asks the community to do something in return - in her time of need.

“They are a family of six who lost everything other than the clothes they are standing in,” the page reads.

“Mum Jo is one of life’s unsung heroes and back bone of our society, she is a carer.

“She has given care to thousands of families throughout the community, people like Jo are rare, she has given so much and continues to give so much to those that need care due to old age and disability.

“She brought much relief and happiness to my late dad whom she cared for tirelessly. People like Jo are so unique and are worth there weight in gold and more.

“I’m hoping people can help her during her hour of need just like she has to so many people. Without people like Jo, families would be on their knees through stress and heartache, people like Jo are the absolute hero’s in this mad world. She is my hero and always will be.

“I feel it’s only right to try and help her and her family during her hour of need.

“Anything big or small will be a big help. If you cannot help please would you share to see if others can.”

As previously reported, at its height five Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service engines were needed to put out the flames on Saturday afternoon (April 10).

Anyone who would like to contribute to the appeal for the family can do so via the Gofundme page.
