Cool for Cats songwriters to headline city NHS festival
FUNDRAISING EVENT TO TAKE PLACE AT ASSEMBLY FESTIVAL GARDEN IN AUGUST
UNIVERSITY Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire Charity are holding a summer celebration to help raise vital funds for patients and their families.
Charity Fest will take place at the Assembly Festival Gardens on Saturday, August 20, and will include live music acts and entertainment throughout the day, as well as gourmet food trucks and funfair games -something to keep the whole family entertained.
Chris Difford, founding member of Squeeze, will be performing at the event, alongside music acts to be announced over the coming weeks. All funds raised will go towards making things better for staff, patients and their families at University Hospital, Coventry and the Hospital of St Cross, Rugby.
Alongside Squeeze songwriting partner Glenn Tillbrook, Difford was responsible for some of the best known British pop songs of the late 1970s and early 80s, including Up the Junction, Cool For Cats, Labelled with Love and many more. The group is also responsible for being a springboard for the career of Jools Holland, who founded the group alongside Tillbrook and Difford.
Donations will help fund world leading robotic surgery equipment so that patients can recover faster and be home after major surgery within days. It will also help fund the purchase of tiny gel pillows to cradle the heads of neonatal babies.
