Depp makes a date with the Midlands

STAR RETURNS WITH BAND HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES

- ROBSON MCCALLISTER News Reporter

JOHNNY Depp will head to the Midlands next year with his band the Hollywood Vampires as part of a UK tour.

The supergroup, which also includes Alice Cooper and Aerosmith’s Joe Perry, previously had to cancel their 2020 tour due to the Covid pandemic.

The tour reveal comes after Depp went back into the music world following his defamation case with ex-wife Amber Heard.

The band will play at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena on Tuesday, July 11, 2023. The actor and musician will be returning to the Midlands after a high-profile visit earlier this year.

Depp stayed at the Grand Hotel during his time in Birmingham and racked up a £50,000 bill at an Indian restaurant.

Varanasi on Broad Street provided the megastar with apparently ‘the best curry ever’ as Depp performed with Jeff Beck on stage at Symphony Hall.

As part of the Hollywood Vampires, Depp and the group traditionally plays songs in tribute to the “great lost heroes of music” as well as their own material from their 2015 self-titled debut album and their 2019 release Rise.

Speaking about the new tour, Cooper said: “Well, it’s already been three years since the Vampires have toured because of Covid.

“Also, Johnny has his movies,

Joe’s in Aerosmith and I’m in Alice Cooper, so we have to look at that whole thing and see when we can all get a month or two off where we can go out and tour.

“I can’t wait to get back with the guys, I really love being in that band. My band is great and wonderful, but playing with the Vampires is an entirely different situation. I don’t necessarily do any theatrics at all, I’m just the lead singer. Lock your doors, put garlic all around, because the Vampires are coming!”

Tickets go on sale on Friday at 10.00am.
