Cov inventor makes waterless cleaning products to help cut bills

FIRM HAS STARTED SUPPLYING THE NHS AND CARE HOMES WITH SOAPS AND SHAMPOOS

- By PAUL SUART

A COVENTRY-BASED inventor says his company has invented special shampoos and soaps that do not require water! Pete Efford’s Waterless Limited has started supplying the NHS and many care homes.

The firm distributes products on prescription and directly from their online shop. Originally designed to speed up and simplify bed-bathing in healthcare, the products are mainly used when bathing is painful because of mobility or sensory issues, or where water is not available.

They are used daily in the NHS for bed-bound patients, for those in palliative care and for people with dementia, autism, incontinence, MS and various disabilities. Mr Efford says the products also have a large following among the military, outdoor enthusiasts, marathon runners and savvy consumers looking to save on energy bills.

“We are seeing a huge uplift (in sales) since the energy crises began as the products save both water and energy costs,” he said.

“With a 683% increase in commercial costs for gas and electricity, the typical cost of £660 per annum for a care home bed will now cost an astonishing £5,166.

“This is NOT a dry shampoo as many think. These are specially formulated liquids soaps that allow you to simply Towel Off(r) the dirty soap without leaving any sticky residues and they work amazingly well.” Liquid soap is applied to the body, massaged in to release any dirt and odours into the lather before being towelled off.

Waterless Limited provides shampoo caps, wipes, floor cleaners and anti-microbial products such as luxury sanitisers and there is also a pet range.
