Inspiring entrepreneur Femi shaping the minds of city’s young music talent

LAST Thursday on BBC CWR, it was really inspiring to chat to entrepreneur and the CEO of Motive Man Entertainment (MME), Femi Dokunmu.

Originally from London, Femi moved to Coventry in 2015 for university, with the intention of studying medicine afterwards.

An important moment in Femi’s life came during Christmas of that year, when he hit rock bottom after spending all of his student loan. At that point, he made a resolution to never be in that situation again and started working three jobs, as well as doing his first year of uni.

By the second year of uni, he chose to keep only a fundraising job, where he stayed for three years, becoming one of the top fundraisers in the country. He then made the life-changing decision to invest time in himself, by becoming an entrepreneur.

Since then, Femi has started a successful cleaning company and invested in several other business ventures. However, his pride and joy is Motive Man Entertainment, a studio based in Coventry.

The idea came from a good friend at a time when Femi was at a low point, after losing money to a venture that was dissolved by lockdown rules.

Already having a passion for music, in early 2020, Femi began doing research and by December, he had found the space and hired an architect to start designing the studio.

After a lot of pain, time, money and hard lessons, by February 2022 MME studios was born and his dream became a reality.

For Femi, MME is more than just a studio, it’s an ‘Artist Enhancement Centre’ - a place where any creative can improve themselves and master their craft in a space full of likeminded and talented individuals.

He also hopes that MME can be heavily involved in educating and shaping the minds of the younger generation and to show them that there is more to the music industry than just being a rapper or singer.

Femi is a great example of, if you want something in life and you are willing to put the work in, you can achieve anything.
