POLICE APPEAL AS 10 ARRESTS ARE MADE

- By jaspreet kaur News Reporter

TEN people have been arrested in connection with the alleged murders of two Coventry men six years ago, as the victims’ families spoke of their ongoing hope for justice.

Johnny Robbins and Daniel Shaw were believed to have been killed within just days of each other in March 2018.

Johnny Robbins disappeared on March 21, 2018. Tragically, his body has never been found.

Mum Ginnie spoke of her heartache, saying she has been in a ‘very long and black tunnel for six long and painful years.’ She went on to describe her 33-year-old son as ‘much-loved and dearly-missed.’

Detectives believe the tragic death of Johnny is linked to the alleged murder of Daniel Shaw, who was found with gunshot injuries to his chest in Copland Place in Tile Hill on March 25, 2018. Sister Blossom said her family are continuing their fight for justice, adding that their ‘thoughts are with him always.’

Officers have this week arrested six men on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, while two women and two men have been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, said West Midlands Police. All of those held are in their 20s and 30s and were arrested at locations across the Midlands, in areas including Coventry and Warwickshire.

Three of the men arrested were held on Friday. Police said the seven other suspects arrested have been bailed. Detectives said they are still looking for information about the whereabouts of Ryan Hobday, from Coventry, who is wanted in connection with the alleged murders of Johnny and Daniel.

In a statement released on Friday, Ginnie said: “We have been in a very long and black tunnel for six long and painful years and there is still a long way to go but we are very confident in the job the WMP Homicide Team are doing to get justice for our very much loved and dearly missed Johnny.”

Blossom added: “We truly hope we can get some justice for Dan and our thoughts are with him always.”

Deputy Senior Investigating Officer Jenny Birch said: “These are significant arrests that have been some time in the planning. We are absolutely committed to establishing the truth behind what happened to Johnny and Daniel. While we have made good progress in recent months, it is still really important that anyone who has information gets in touch. Six years have passed, and allegiances change. Do the right thing, and pick up the phone.”

Anyone with information on the location of Ryan Hobday, or any other information, has been asked to contact West Midlands Police. Alternatively, they can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
