JOHN TORODE & LISA FAULKNER

TV’s favourite foodie couple on travelling the world together, their adventurous eating habits and a surprise holiday engagement

-

What will you be doing on The Good Food Show at Sea?

J: We will be running cooking demos where we show guests how they can take quite basic ingredients or dishes and create something that’s inspirational and delicious. Taking something like a sausage, onion or cheese and making it into a brilliant dish.

What are you looking forward to doing on your cruise?

L: I absolutely love a cruise ship, I love the variety – the shops, the staircases, the choice of food! We’re most looking forward to meeting the passengers, it’s such a joy when people want to come along and say ‘hi’ and hopefully stick around to see some of the demos we’ll be doing onboard.

Where do you like to travel together?

J: We’re both planners and love the lead-up to a trip, the planning, picking outfits, packing our bags and working out what we’re going to do while we’re away.

L: Anywhere! We always have so much fun. We like finding local little restaurants and a spot by the sea to sit and eat.

What’s been your most memorable holiday together and why?

L: I would say my most memorable holiday was our trip to Goa for Christmas. John suggested we didn’t do big presents… so I gifted him some yoga pants and he gave me an engagement ring! J: And there was a four-hour time difference, so Lisa couldn’t tell anyone and had to sit very impatiently waiting for hours!

What sort of travellers would you say you are?

J: I do like to have some luxuries when I travel, like an inside toilet and a soft, white towel.

L: Me too, I wouldn’t ever want to go hardcore camping, I’d much rather be glamping!

Which destination is on your bucket list?

L: I really want to go to Nashville.

J: Me too! Let’s do it, let’s do a big road trip around America.

Are you good at holiday packing?

J: Yes, and I have a certain way I like to pack. I like Globe-Trotters suitcases because when you unpack on holiday everything is the same as when you packed it at home. So, if you fold everything properly, it pays off.

What do you like to eat and drink on a cruise ship?

J: Everything!

L: I love that there’s so much choice, different restaurants with different menus to explore. It’s a foodie’s heaven!

Apart from the Princess cruise, what other travel plans have you both got for 2024?

L: We’re planning a trip to Menorca, we love it there. We also like to take our dog for weekends away in the UK, somewhere like Cornwall or the Lakes.
