A-ROSA SENA

- WORDS JEANNINE WILLIAMSON

A-ROSA has always stood out from the crowd, with its eye-catching river vessels dappled with rose petals and adorned with a giant pair of red lips on the bow. It’s now turning heads with Sena, the first-ever dedicated family river vessel and the only one to offer children’s swimming lessons ESSENTIALS

With four decks instead of the usual three, plus a sun deck, the 280-passenger A-ROSA SENA has plenty of stand-out features you won’t find anywhere else. Accommodation on the game-changing river ship, which sails on the Rhine, includes 12 spacious family cabins sleeping up to five, which are situated on the lower deck next to the Treasure Island-themed kids’ club. Elsewhere, there are 119 balcony cabins, seven suites and two rooms for passengers with limited mobility. Out on the deck, there are separate pools for adults and youngsters. This year, there are swimming lessons for beginners, and children that can already swim, on sailings departing 27 July and 3 and 10 August.

EXPERIENCE

The bright and welcoming ship is focused squarely on multigenerational family fun, with something for everyone. Mealtimes are stress-free, thanks to long opening hours and multiple choices. In addition to a gourmet buffet, there’s a children’s section where youngsters can pick their favourite dishes. There’s also family area in the main restaurant, and for a more formal, special experience, à la carte served meals are also available. Once the kids have gone to bed, parents are invited to chill out at the main bar or alfresco bar on the sun deck, and there’s music and entertainment in the lounge. A nice touch is the Winery, an intimate venue that can be used by guests celebrating a birthday or special event.
