Walk fundraiser aims to make school safer

THE man set to take on a fundraiser on behalf of a Catrine charity says improving the local primary school is his inspiration.

Jack Gillies will take part in the Glasgow Kiltwalk later this month, representing Catrine Games Hall Trust.

The kind-hearted local will be taking on the ‘Mighty Stride’ - a 22.6 mile walk - in a bid to raise a total of £3,000 for the Trust.

This money would then be used to purchase a defibrillator and educational/ arts and craft supplies for Catrine Primary School.

This won’t be the first occasion that the Catrine man has stepped up to fundraise for the village.

Jack also completed the Kiltwalk back in 2022 with a similar aim to better the area as a result of any funds raised.

At that time, alongside the dedicated team from the Trust, over £3,500 was raised meaning that four defibrillators could be placed around Catrine.

A man of modesty, Jack had always been keen to point out that he is taking on the challenges as a trustee of the Games Hall Trust - and does not want to accept all of the praise for raising the funds.

His mission always remains making efforts which can make a positive difference for those living in Catrine.

He commented: “Please give what you can afford to help what I know you will agree is a very worthy cause.

“Help make Catrine Primary School a safer and better place for our children to learn. You know it makes sense.

“Our children deserve the best start in life, we’ve made a great start so please keep the donations coming please.

“Everyone in the village has benefitted from the great work done by our primary school teachers over the years, and now is your chance to give something back.”
