A NEW yoga, fitness and wellness studio could soon be coming to Mauchline.

Plans have been lodged with East Ayrshire Council to transform the use of a former cafe in the town which closed last year.

An application, by Andrea Morrison of Aloha Mo Yoga, would see the former Crafty Coffee premises transformed into the new studio.

The former Crafty Coffee building on Loudoun Street had been listed as available to rent following the closure of the business

that opened back in the summer.

According to the application, the proposed studio would be open seven days a week, with teaching scheduled between 6am and 10pm.

A supporting statement from Ms Morrison, submitted with the formal application, states: “It is my intention to open a yoga, fitness and wellness studio at the property at the above address.

“A calm and comfortable space offering a range of classes in different yoga and meditation disciplines which will meet the needs of all different age groups in both their physical and mental health.

“Our classes and any one-to-one

teaching will be scheduled over seven days within the hours of 6am till 10pm to allow opportunity for shift workers to attend.

“We also plan to connect with other local small businesses when running monthly workshops/retreats in the studio.

“The studio will mainly be run by myself.”

It adds: “I am fully qualified in five different disciplines and have been teaching classes at several facilities across Ayrshire over the past three years.

“However, I plan to invite other well-established teachers to the studio to further enhance what the studio can provide the community.

“Some of the many benefits that yoga and meditation provide include stress and anxiety relief, pain relief, heart health, joint health, mobility, strength, flexibility and connection from group support.

“I am passionate about bringing access to these to our smaller town and surrounding villages who deserve to have a facility like this on their doorstep too.”

A decision on the application is expected to be made by June 4.

You can view the full application on the East Ayrshire Council planning portal, by searching for application 24/0176/PP.
