Veloe Multi Shimano

A petite option for people after the practicality of a cargo bike without the bulk

-

Just as you’d be unlikely to use a car solely to haul items back and forth, so electric cargo bikes are increasingly expected to achieve multiple tasks. This could be as simple as transporting the rider where they need to go or as complicated as negotiating a combined school run and shopping expedition. Traditional cargo bikes should be able to manage such things with ease.

Not everyone has the space to store a full-sized cargo bike securely, however. There’s also the fact that large and unwieldy designs are a bit of a hassle to manoeuvre and not much fun to ride solo when not carrying cargo. This is where the Veloe Multi comes in. It’s a cargo bike that’s almost the same size as a regular bicycle.

Essentially, Veloe has created the Multi by taking a regular step-through bicycle frame, fitting smaller 24-inch wheels and making use of the space that saves to add integrated racks to the front and rear. The result is a bike that can carry almost as much baggage as a dedicated cargo bike yet rides and filters through traffic like an everyday commuter.

The Veloe Multi is also highly adaptable in its accessories and build list. There are options to suit your needs, no matter what you intend to use the bike for.

To begin with, if we ignore the Boschpowered models and restrict ourselves solely to the Veloe Multi Shimano, we still get to choose from two motor options. There’s the reliable Shimano E6100 drive as standard, but there’s also the Shimano EP8 motor, which is more usually found on high-powered mountain bikes, for heavyduty use. You can also upgrade the basic 418Wh battery to a 504 or 630Wh model.

Then there’s gearing, where you get a pick of hub gears from Shimano and Enviolo or a more conventional ten-speed Shimano Deore derailleur option.

The list of accessories offers even more choices. Mudguards, front rack, lights and a centre stand are all included, plus you can add various luggage and seating options. It’s another way in which the Veloe aims to fit seamlessly into your lifestyle.
