NEW Week in cycling

-

Team Sky leader Chris Froome hasn’t ruled out riding the Giro d’italia in 2018, despite the complications it would cause for his chances of winning a record fifth Tour de France title.

Speaking at the Shanghai Criterium at the weekend, Froome said he doesn’t see any reason why he wouldn’t be on the Tour start line in the Vendée next July, but riding the Giro d’italia was still possible.

“Everything is a possibility at the moment,” he said. “The Giro can always be hit and miss [in terms of weather] at that time of year so it may depend on the race location. Obviously, the start in Jerusalem is pretty different as well but we’ll have to see what the race looks like first before we make any calls.”
