Super Sheridan

-

I read with great interest the feature on place-to-place record rides (CW October 19). There is a national record here in Ireland, set in May 1952 by Eileen Sheridan, of 5hr 50min 10sec for the Dublin to Galway ride. The distance on the roads at that time was 134 miles. Her record is 20 minutes slower than the men’s record of 5hr 30min 27sec set by Mel Sutcliff in September 1994.

Considering the equipment used by Ms Sheridan, it puts her ride in perspective.
