Who is your favourite rider of 2018?
Simon Yates. He dared to dream in the Giro, fell short, picked himself up, and won the Vuelta. He comes across as a nice guy who always has time for people, and actually seems to enjoy his racing. Nigel Lewin
Geraint Thomas has been my favourite rider for years — so happy for him that he got his chance and ran away with it! He was amazing over the course of the Tour de France as well as picking himself up off the deck and winning the Dauphiné. Jennifer Bearor Santos
Simon Yates. It’s his style — both aggressive and smooth. He has made cycling unpredictable and exciting again. Sambit Mishra
Chris Froome for winning the Giro d’italia and holding all three Grand Tours. Neil Pearce It seemed like the glory was spread pretty thinly in 2018, with some big names and teams ending the season without any major wins. The sprinters in particular had a rough time in the Grand Tours. Emma Wright
Quick Step — they’re all the same guy, right? Elliot Storey
Philippe Gilbert. Sheer class and what a comeback after an awful crash. Steve Barlow
Egan Bernal — classy, hugely talented and selfless. Mark Hornsby
It was maybe not one of his classic years, but Peter Sagan still performed well throughout 2018. Chris Elliott
Mathieu van der Poel. How many reasons do you need? Dave Paton The final suit has to be between Alejandro Valverde, Simon Yates and Geraint Thomas. But guys, Valverde is 38! João Henrique Guntzel
Simon Yates due to the fact he was in the run for the Giro and went on to win the Vuelta. Mike Stafford
Definitely Geraint Thomas. So chuffed for him. Jon Elliott
Alejandro Valverde. World champion, still one of the best in the game and 38 years old. Dave Andrews Julian Alaphilippe. Bradley Ashworth
