“Both events went exceptionally well. As a result, we’ve got club events starting from today [Monday], with the first open events on Saturday,” said Nick Sharpe of time trials body, CTT.

Newbury’s demonstration events have proved valuable for CTT and race organisers more widely, he said.

“We worked closely with Newbury Velo — firstly, to put into practice the risk assessment before racing could start again in earnest. And secondly, as it turned out, to help boost confidence, to show other organisers that it can be done, because it’s all unknown territory for people.”
