RACING ROUND-UP

-

Young Brit Imogen Wolff (Shibden Apex RT) followed up her win in the previous week’s Piccolo Trofeo Alfredo Binda with a dominant win on domestic turf at the Peaks Two-day at the weekend, according to provisional results released on Monday. With the first of three stages cancelled, it was left to Wolff to win stage two and then place second on stage three behind winner Lucy Gadd (Le Col). It earned Wolff the overall victory and the points title. The 17-year-old was also the only junior rider to infiltrate the GC top 10, with the rest being senior and U23 riders. Provisional winner of the men’s race was Tom Martin

(Wheelbase-cabtech-castelli), who placed consistently throughout.

Back out on the Continent, the Italian Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali

stage race was won overall by Vismalease A Bike rider Koen Bouwman. The 30-year-old former Giro d’italia mountains jersey winner recorded top-10 placings on four out of five stages, as well as a win on the mountainous stage three, based on Riccione. Young Brit Lukas Nerurkar (EF Education-easypost) registered notable second and fourth place finishes on the last two stages.

Hot on the heels of the Tour de Normandie came the Tour du Bocage et de l’ernée stage race, held in the nearby Mayenne department. Ashlin Barry (United States) got off to a flying start with a win on the first of three stages, and while he lost the leader’s jersey in the following day’s 13.8km time trial, he reclaimed it with a high placing on the final stage, winning the young rider classification to boot.
