Classics race machine GOCYCLE BALANCE BIKE

The Ineos Grenadiers don’t think you need a special bike for the Classics

-

Tom Pidcock’s arrival at the start line of this year’s Paris Roubaix was unexpected, to say the least, after his crash in Itzulia. In the end, Pidcock rode to a solid 17th place on his debut.

His trusty Pinarello Dogma F, pictured here at the start of Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, shows Ineos Grenadiers’ minimalist approach to preparing for a pounding on the pavé. Of course, the usual suspects of wider tyres and tweaked gear ratios are to be found on Pidcock’s bike, but thanks to ever-increasing tyre clearances on road bikes, there’s no special-edition frame for this cobbled Classic.

Team mechanic Diego Costa explained to Cycling Weekly: “All we have changed is the tyres. We are riding 32mm front and back, set up tubeless, with inserts. Some of the guys have also opted for double-wrapped bar tape, but that’s it.”

Costa reported that the Brit was running between 50 and 60psi for the cobbled Classics, rolling on Continental GP5000 tyres mounted on Dura Ace C50 wheelsets.

Pidcock’s bike was clad with a Duraace R9270 groupset too, but without the mammoth 62t single-ring set-up seen on team-mate Josh Tarling’s bike.

—e Brit’s bike was topped off with single-wrapped bar tape for the Hell of the North, and incredibly, Pidcock opted to race without gloves.

Gocycle, known for its innovative electric bikes, surprises with the launch of the Gocycle Mini, a children’s balance bike with advanced features. Despite its diminutive size, the Mini still incorporates the brand’s signature technology such as side-mounted Pitstop wheels, a single-side front fork, and a carbon chassis, making it one of the lightest balance bikes at 2.6kg (5.7lb).

It o‚ers an adjustable riding position, akin to Gocycle’s e-bikes, ensuring comfort and adaptability as your child grows. Inspired by automotive design, the Mini’s ‘Vgonomic’ seatpost adds comfort and longevity.

Priced at just under £400, the Mini targets parents seeking products with a longer lifespan that will stay the course as their kids grow. With only 500 units initially available, pre-orders are open for an October 2024 delivery.
