Over a total distance of 10km the Hardknott/wrynose double takes in 489m of ascent, with the maximum gradient peaking at a leg-shredding 36.8%. The Hardknott averages 15% over 2.4km, while the Wyrnose is a more acceptable 6% average over 3km – but is steeper coming down the other side. If you want the Strava KOM, you’ll need to average 21kmh for the whole thing.
