Follow Cyclist’s alternative route up, down and around the Teide volcano

To view this route, go to cyclist.co.uk/51tenerife. Starting from Granadilla, take the TF-28 north-east to Guimar, then ride along the TF-525 to Arafo. From here, follow the TF-523 for 18km then swing left onto the TF-24 for 19km until you reach the TF-21. Turn left and follow the TF-21 past the Teide volcano and all the way down to Vilaflor and back into Granadilla. It’s as simple – if not quite as easy – as that.
