Lightweight claims it held off on producing a disc version of its highly acclaimed Meilenstein wheels until it was happy it could deal safely with the heat build-up. The danger with a wheel made entirely from carbon is that the disc rotor might not stay rigidly fixed in the hubshell if the composite’s integrity is affected by excess heat. To combat this, Lightweight has created a unique pentagon-shaped hubshell to combat any chance of rotational movement. The hubs look quite chunky, which means they may give away some aerodynamic proficiency, but it’s likely you’ll be too busy enjoying the thrill of the quick acceleration and deft handling to notice a tiny percentage of extra drag.
