A DEBATE on whether Britain should leave or stay in the EU will take place in Aberdare a week before votes are cast.
The event will take place at Aberdare Community School on Thursday, June 16, seven days before Britain will vote on whether to remain in or exit the EU.
Organised by local businessman Andrew Chainey, the event will be hosted by Roy Noble OBE and is aimed at informing people about the issues.
New Cynon Valley AM Vikki Howells, Plaid Cymru AM Lord Dafydd ElisThomas and former MEP Thierry Cornillet will put put the case for Britain staying in the EU.
Ukip AM Mark Reckless and Welsh Conservative leader Andrew RT Davies will be arguing for ‘Brexit’.
The event starts at 6pm and tickets cost £2. Proceeds will go towards the RCT Town Twinning Association, which is an apolitical group.
Mr Chainey said: “I’m organising this event to inform people for when it comes to voting on June 23. I’m a local businessman who is 50/50 and on the fence on which way to vote. It’s a chance for a debate from both sides, so people can get to the real crux of the referendum.
“We are also looking for a third person who wants to leave the EU to take part – we’re looking for a businessperson who can give that perspective away from the immigration debate.”
In total there are 180 tickets being sold. To book, call 01685 876700.
