IN the past 10 months, fund-raising events have included:

In September, Mountain Ash District nurses’ sponsored walk up Pen-yFan, joined by friends and family.

In October, Rebecca’s brother Thomas Edwards completed a survival of the fittest course in Cardiff.

In November, Rebecca and 17 others entered the Nos Galan, completing the 5k course on New Year’s Eve.

Isabel, her cousin Lewys Phillips and friends hoping to ask for some discount.

“We left a piece of our heart in the neonatal unit and with the nurses and doctors, but it helps Grace Davies and Joshua Wakefield ran the 2k race, raising £400.

Menna Davies, from Mountain Ash Embroidery, donated a percentage of any school uniform items bought.

In December, £800 was raised on a stall at the Mountain Ash Christmas Event.

The Year 4 class at Darren Las Primary arranged a coffee and cake afternoon, while children designed posters to advertise it. Some of Isabel’s classmates even knowing he was in the best hands.

“As a family, we would like to thank all those who’ve helped us raise the money and continue to sold their own toys and donated the cash, and with support from Miss Thomas and headteache­r Mrs Powell, £800 was raised.

Roger Fiddler, of Mountain Ash Workmen’s Club, has made collection­s during Sunday mornings and held a charity evening, raising more than £1000. Half was donated to the neonatal unit, and half to Rowan Tree Cancer Care. support us.

“The neonatal unit are in the process of purchasing the machine and are planning to name it after Oliver.”
