Theatres announce new season

RCT Theatres have unveiled their autumn season of shows at The Coliseum in Aberdare and Park & Dare in Treorchy.

So far scheduled is everything from music, drama, dance, children’s events and a traditiona­l family panto at the valleys’ venues.

The Searchers kick off the music season at The Coliseum on Saturday, September 23, when the ‘60s stars will be playing hits from their extensive back catalogue including Sweet for My Sweet, Needles and Pins and You Walk in The Room.

Ross Leadbeater will be joined by special guest Welsh songstress Sophie Evans in a special afternoon performanc­e of The Great British Songbook at The Coliseum on Friday, September 30, at 1pm.

The Blues Band featuring Paul Jones makes a welcome return to The Park & Dare on Thursday, September 29, and iconic British rock group The Zombies take to the stage of the Coliseum on Wednesday, November 2.

Drama lovers will be spoilt for choice with plenty of original, funny drama on offer.

Described as ‘hilarious’ and ‘raucous’, The Wizard of Gurnwah is at The Coliseum Friday and Saturday, September 9 and 10.

A brand new one-man show based on the complex life of one of our favourite Carry On stars, Charles Hawtrey, Oh Hello! is at The Park & Dare on Wednesday, September 14.

Meanwhile, The Revlon Girl is an inspiring, touching and funny new play based on events surroundin­g aftermath of the 1966 Aberfan disaster, which will be staged at The Coliseum on Saturday, October 1.

Following much critical acclaim, Rachel Boulton’s explosive drama The Good Earth comes to The Park & Dare on Friday and Saturday, October 7 and 8, while Black RAT Production­s are back with John Godber’s classic comedy Bouncers at The Coliseum on Tues-
