Rugby league training camp

-

COLEG y Cymoedd Rugby League Academy and South Wales Scorpions will be holding a three-day open training camp for 16-19 year olds from Tuesday 23th until Thursday 25th of August at the Caerphilly County Borough Centre of Sporting Excellence in Ystrad Mynach.

It will be three full days of activity with sessions running from 8.45am - 4pm each time.

Cymoedd’s academy has accredited Rugby Football League category 3 status and anyone who is eventually accepted on the course will be taught Rugby League full-time and be able to study BTEC Level 2 and Level 3 Sport qualifications as part of the programme.

The Academy is recognised as a pathway from the Wales under 16 side up to South Wales Scorpions.

Scorpions’ director Marc Lovering said: “We are looking forward to working with Coleg Y Cymoedd to develop the next generation of professional rugby league players and future Welsh internationals.

“We already have a number of players in our first team squad who have benefitted from a full time learning and rugby league environment and there is now a genuine pathway in place to the professional game.

“I would encourage any young players who may be interested to register for the training camp and come down and see what the programme has to offer.”

All players aged 16+ are welcome whatever their experience of Rugby League. Bring indoor and outdoor kit, trainers and boots, water and food and towels for showering.
