Tough test for Perthcelyn as new season approaches

great counter attack from Cadoxton saw the ball put across the box and Clayton Parfitts attempted clearance spun off his boot and beat Dai Hartshorn to make it 2-1.

In the 2nd half Perthcelyn made several changes and Introduced youngsters Cameron Gray and Stephen Groves, which offered Celyn more width. Mario Scaccia had several attempts saved by the away keeper who was in decent form.

A defensive slip however then allowed Cadoxton to level at 2-2 from close range.

However on 62 minutes Jonny Chappell found space and with a excellent turn he slammed the ball into the net to make it 3-2 to Perthcelyn.

Cadoxton were always in the game however and when on 75 minutes a failed clearance fell to one of their pacey strikers he rounded the Celyn Keeper, and slotted home despite the best attempts from the Perthcelyn defence.

Perthcelyn were playing very well going forward however, and a corner kick on 81 minutes was put in the box and after a flurry of activity the ball fell to Jonny Chappell on the edge of the box, and he cut inside and drilled home Perth’s 4th goal to make it 4-3 to the hosts.

It looked like the game was going to end that way before another clever Cadoxton move saw them break through and score late on to make it 4-4.

This was a great competitiv­e game, and both sides will feel that much sharper as a result.

The match was officiated very well by Marco Griffiths.

This coming Saturday both Perthcelyn 1sts & 2nds travel to Trelewis Navi FC.

Perthcelyn 2nds kick off vs Trelewis Navi B 12pm, followed by Trelewis Navi 1sts vs Perthcelyn 1sts.

Any players wishing to join Perthcelyn are advised to attend training every Wednesday night 6pm at Deep Duffryn.
