MERTHYR LABOUR CLUB: KEVIN FORBES V YE-OLDE EXPRESS: WAYNE TITCOMB

THIS best-of-five-legs final was an absolute thriller from beginning to end and could have gone either way.

Kevin won the coin toss and would have first throw in legs 1, 3 and 5 if needed in the battle for the much coveted singles crown. There was some fantastic high scoring and high finishing with both players holding throw in the first four legs taking the match score to two apiece setting up a deciding fifth leg.

A blistering last leg saw Wayne finally break the throw with a cool 85 finish to take the match 3-2 and with it the 2016 Merthyr Summer Darts League Singles title to fantastic applause.

The officers and committee of the Merthyr Summer Darts League would like to thank all the league members for their participation, help and support throughout the season.

Also many thanks to all the pubs/clubs who have provided the venues for the participating teams. Thanks to the Merthyr Labour Club officers, committee, members and bar staff for their help in hosting the evening and making it a great success.

Due to the number of teams who have dropped out of the Winter League in the past few seasons at the cup round stages there has been a late change to this year’s diary.

The first two weeks of action will now be cup matches with the first round of the Lee’s Computer Systems Challenge Cup this Friday, October 7, and the first round of the Worthington’s Cup the following Friday, October 14, with the first league game now on Friday, October 21.

To this end the league fixtures will now be issued in the first delegate meeting which has now been rearranged for Tuesday, October 18 at the Merthyr Ex Club starting at 8pm.

All other information will be issued on Tuesday, October 4 at the Merthyr Ex Club from 7.45pm. Please note no packs will be delivered, they must be picked up by the teams.
