THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO ITV, Saturday, 3.30pm & 4pm

THE revamp of Gerry Anderson’s 1960s sci-fi classic takes off for a third series with two back-toback stories.

In the first episode, Earthbreaker, a geological survey team gets trapped when a huge Earthbreaker vehicle causes them to fall into a narrow crevice.

Scott, Virgil and Kayo take off in Thunderbird 1, Thunderbird 2 and Thunderbird Shadow after the Earthbreaker takes out the responding GDF fliers.

The vehicle’s controller, known only as The Mechanic, attacks and damages Thunderbird 2, leaving Virgil no choice but to make an emergency crash-landing back on Tracy Island.

Meanwhile, Lady Penelope and her faithful servant Parker visit The Hood in Parkmoor Scrubs prison in the hope that their old enemy will be able to help them find out more about this mysterious new villain.

In the second take, Ghost Ship, GDF captain Ridley O’Bannon sends out a distress call during a routine inspection of a derelict ship known as Eden, which was intended to travel the stars for hundreds of years.

John and Alan answer the call and together the trio explore the ship.

As well as discovering some leftover equipment known as Builder Bots, they also find two space “pirates” named Reece and Dobbs who are causing mischief.

Events take a deadly turn when the pirates accidentally reverse the Builder Bots’ programming, causing them to tear Eden apart – will John, Alan and Ridley be able to escape?
