HAVE YOUR SAY ON NEW PARKING CHARGES

-

FIVE town centres across Rhondda Cynon Taff could soon see their parking prices reduced – and now you can have a say on the changes that will be made.

As part of the process of making the changes, RCT council says it is asking people what they think about the current fees and the plan, that was revealed last month. It has now launched a six-week consultation period with members of the public.

The changes concern council-owned pay and display car parks in Pontypridd, Aberdare, Mountain Ash, Tonypandy and Porth town centres.

Price reductions for short stays include one-hour parking being reduced from 75p to 50p and two-hour parking from £1.50 to £1. For long stay car parks, up to four hours would be reduced from £1.30 to £1, and more than four hours from £2.50 to £2.

All-day parking on Saturday could be reduced from £2.50 to £1, while the monthly permit would change from £37.50 to £20 and annual permits from £375 to £200. You can tell the decision-makers what you think by filling in a 16-question survey accessed through the council’s website.

The results will be collected and considered when cabinet members make their final decision on charges.

In announcing the proposals during October, leader of RCT council Andrew Morgan said: “The consultation will inform a future formal decision of cabinet to review car parking charges once all views have been taken on board.”
