PRIODAS PUM MIL

IMAGINE asking your friends and family to organise the most important day of your life – your wedding – with only £5,000 to spend on the whole day. That’s the task facing couples taking part in this brand-new series.

Over the next six Sundays, viewers will get to witness six loving couples tying the knot on S4C. The weddings will take place across Wales, in Devil’s Bridge, Cricieth, Caernarfon and Newport in Pembrokeshire, with the first couple, Iolo and Nia Roberts, getting married on Anglesey.

Keeping an eye on all the arrangements, from choosing the dress and suits, to baking a cake and picking a venue, will be presenters Emma Walford and Trystan Ellis-Morris.

When Iolo and Nia, who live in Bethesda, saw a Facebook advert for couples to take part in a new S4C wedding series, they both fell in love with the idea. But will their family and friends make it a day to remember for the bride and groom?

“We like to do things differently, and what better way to get married than this?” laughs Iolo, originally from Llannerch-y-medd, Anglesey.

“Our family and friends have told us they had a lot of fun organising our wedding – they also admitted it was a little bit stressful! But it was a relaxing experience for Nia and me!” says Iolo.

Iolo and Nia met 13 years ago in a Bangor nightclub. Iolo, now 32, was studying for an NVQ and realised he was on the same course as Nia’s brother.

Thirteen years later, Iolo saw the Facebook advert and proposed.

“We got engaged at a restaurant in Manchester in January. Otherwise I mightn’t have popped the question until later in the year!” he says.
