FAMILIES on benefits are being offered free Christmas decorations and toys and a 50% discount by recycling charity Toogoodtowaste, based at their Aberaman Industrial Unit.
A RECYCLING charity is hoping to make Christmas easier for families in need by offering a 50% discount and free toys and festive decorations to people on benefits.
Rhondda Cynon Taf charity too-good-to-waste is asking customers in receipt of an income-based benefit to visit its Aberdare charity showroom from Thursday, December 1, to Saturday, December 3, to receive reductions on their products.
The charity collects re-usable household items to refurbish and redistribute them via its showrooms.
Its Rhondda branch had separate visits from Hollywood actor Michael Sheen and Prince Charles during 2015, who both commended the charity for its work within the community.
The Cynon Valley showroom – at Unit 3 of the Aberaman Industrial Estate – will offer items including sofas, beds, fridges, washing machines and clothes, while there will also be free toys and Christmas decorations.
It is the sixth year the charity will host its Christmas event, which has helped many families over the expensive festive period.
Chief executive Shaun England added: “We are delighted that we can again help the local community by offering everything that we have in our Aberdare showroom for half price to people who are in receipt of an income-based benefit.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for people to get affordable furniture and electrical items at one of the most financially difficult times of the year.”
The Aberdare showroom will be open from 9am to 5pm over the three-day event.
