Youth Bands gained certificates for the musical standard of their concert programme. Youth Band Awards (in alphabetical order): BTM Beginners (Jeff Hutcherson) – Silver Certificate; Gwaun Cae Gurwen Juniors (Dafydd Rhys Lewis) – Bronze Certificate; Llwydcoed Juniors (Richard Davies) – Bronze Certificate; Melingriffith Youth (Carol Flannery Davies) – Gold Certificate; Rhondda Fach Youth (Angela Westacott) – Gold Certificate.
Best Instrumentalist – Katie and Iwan Hill (Cornet and Flugel, Rhondda Fach Youth); Best Percus- sion Section – Melingriffith Youth; Youngest Bass Player – Thomas Evans age 13 (Rhondda Fach Youth); Youngest Player – Noah Davies age six (Rhondda Fach Youth).
