Taff return to form

-

DIVISION 3A EAST CENTRAL TAFF’S WELL RFC 1ST XV ................................. 46 LLANDAFF 1ST XV .... 14

THIS was a welcome return to form for Taff’s Well as they ran in six first half tries to effectively end the game as a contest.

It didn’t take long before left wing Gwilym Edwards was put away to score the first of his two tries which was quickly followed by Max Watkins profiting from a strong collective drive from a lineout.

Edwards was soon to add his second with a hack through and followup following a mix-up in the Llandaff defence and both right winger Gavin Close and second row Ieuan Parsons were presented with walk-in tries after good build up play.

With the half-time score at 34-0 thanks to a good effort by Close and two Shaun Baggs conversions; the second half proved to be a bit of an anti-climax thanks to a raft of early Taff’s Well changes and a spirited effort by Llandaff who managed to gain two converted tries through an intercept effort by outside-half Neil Gallagher and a rumble by hooker Rhydian Harris.

Taff’s Well added two more of their own through second row Darryl Mota and a second by Gavin Close thanks to a great rip and steal by MOM flanker Rhys Green with another conversion added by Baggs, but altogether things were generally flat towards the end as eyes turn towards next week’s WRU Bowl encounter away to Newport HSOB.
