BEAT THE CROWDS AT BIG EVENT

-

HERE’S how you can beat the crowds at the Nos Galan event on New Year’s Eve...

Organisers say thousands of people are expected on the night, both in the town centre and at St Gwynno’s Church in Llanwonno.

Motorists heading to the event are advised to arrive early, well ahead of race start times.

The first of the children’s races start at 4pm, with the elite race and the adult 5k fun run soon after.

A free Nos Galan park and ride service will again operate this year, with a shuttle bus running every 10-15 minutes - from 3.30pm until 9.30pm - on Saturday, December 31.

A statement from Rhondda Cynon Taf council said: “This service will be on the A4059 at Mountain Ash Comprehensive School on New Road, Mountain Ash (CF45 4DG).

“The Park and Ride drop-off and pick-up point is the bus stop opposite the Aberdare Hotel in Ffrwd Crescent, Mountain Ash, CF45 4AB. This location is within walking distance of the town centre.

“Motorists are advised to follow the road signs along the A4059 to the Nos Galan Park and Ride facility.

“For the duration of the event, Oxford Street, Mountain Ash, will be closed to all traffic, with road diversions in place.

“There may also be travel delays at Perthcelyn, Llanwonno Road, Cilhaul Terrace and High Street as the Mystery Runners and support runners make their way down the hillside from St Gwynno’s Church into the town.”
