FRIENDS OF THE ANIMALS RCT

-

Wonky Update: Our wonderful young Old English Sheepdog was referred fro major surgery to Langford Specialist Vets in Bristol but die to an infection he will have to wait another three weeks before he can have surgery.

Rupert has a large number of orthopaedic problems which are not fixable but we feel he deserves this operation to make him comfortable and prolong the time he has with us.

Buddy, the blind cat, had his second eye removed and has now been adopted and moved to a wonderful new home.

We have taken in a number of dogs with serious health issues where owners have been unable, because of their own health problems, to give them the care they need. All are doing well and making steady progress.

We ask family and friends or indeed owners who know they are struggling and where pets are not receiving appropriate care to please contact us in confidence.

We will help in any way we can without being judgemental. Our only aim is to ensure that no animal suffers because an owner was afraid to ask for help.

We currently have some dogs staying in foster homes with us whose owners are hospitalised or in refuges. Without Wonky Towers we cannot meet every appeal for help so if anyone is willing to offer a temporary home to either a dog or cat on a short term basis please get in touch. We are happy to supply everything that is needed including food and will also ensure any veterinary care needed is covered. Wonky Towers Update: Having complied with the enforcement notice and having removed the cat pens we are currently working with the local authority to try and find alternative premises to either lease or buy.

Our situation is critical because daily we are turning so many animals away that we may well have been able to take in while waiting for a foster space. This is a particular problem with stray cats and whilst we are helping the most critical cases we are unable to help the many others that find themselves without a home.

Busy Time: This is one of the busiest times of the year for our rescue and in addition many of our volunteers have family engagements and commitments. If you need our help please be patient, email, phone or message us on our very popular Facebook page and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Contact us at: foawales@ aol.com.

Monthly Auction: Our monthly Auctions at Pontypridd Rugby Club are very popular on the first Thursday of each month so please come along and join us. Wonky Calendar & Raffle: We have been busy having photos taken of some of our Wonkies for this year’s calendar.

Our Shops: Please remember our two shops in Ton Pentre and Treorchy if you are having a clear out. Our rescue is run 100% by volunteers and every penny raised goes directly to help the animals in our care. Thank You: We would like to say a massive thank you to all the lovely readers of this column who come along to events to either get involved or say hello.
