Wales fan calls baby son Bale

WALES football fan Chris Perry from Aberdare paid the ultimate tribute to his football icon – by naming his newborn son Bale. Well, Bale Lucius Perry to be precise.

A FOOTBALL-MAD Welsh fan has paid the ultimate tribute to his football icon – by naming his newborn son Bale.

Chris Perry decided to name his baby after Cardiff-born Real Madrid and Wales star Gareth Bale after following his national side’s fairytale ride to the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

He was among the thousands of red-clad supporters belting out Wales’ Euro anthem Don’t Take Me Home last summer as Chris Coleman’s side stunned the footballing world at their first major finals since the 1958 World Cup in Sweden.

But the 26-year-old now has every reason to rush home from football, with an 8lb 9oz bundle of joy waiting for him in Aberdare.

On New Year’s Eve a near-perfect 2016 was rounded off for the Cardiff City season ticket holder when his partner Tracy gave birth to a brother for seven-yearold daughter Reece.

And Chris and Tracy couldn’t let the final hours of a memorable year pass by without putting their own mark on that heady Euro 2016 summer by naming their recent arrival Bale Lucius Perry.

“We have already had a beautiful summer thanks to Chris Coleman’s Welsh team,” said Chris, who works as a groundsman, and was in France for every Wales match in the finals.

“But to be able to have a son born in the same year and name it after the best Welsh player of all time makes it so special.

“We were overjoyed to know we were having a baby boy just before the Euros started. “And once the team, and especially Gareth

Bale, started performing it sprung to my mind I might ask Tracy if we could call the new baby boy Bale.

“To my surprise she was okay with it and I was over the moon.

“After watching the boys beat Belgium 3-1 and get all the way to the semis I thought that would be the proudest moment of my life.

“I am almost addicted to following the dragon and the Euros surpassed all my dreams.

“But that was until the little man arrived to make me happier than I ever been in my life.”

And with the first name of one of the greatest players on the planet and a surname matching Bluebirds cult hero Jason Perry, what are the chances of seeing little Bale Perry lining up in a Wales shirt in Euro 2040?

“I think all fathers would one day like to think their sons could perform in a Welsh shirt and make the fans happy like Bale and company did this sum summer,” said Chris.

“I’m already lookinglookin forward to taking you young Bale to many Cardiff City and Wales fixtures in the

future.”
