Diary full of events for world’s No1

THE Cory Band are continuing 2017 as they ended 2016 and that is with a diary crammed full of engagement­s.

January 7, 8 and 9 saw them recording yet another CD with World of Brass which will probably be released at the time of the Welsh Regional qualifying round of the National Brass Band Championsh­ips of Great Britain, which is being held at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea, on Saturday and Sunday March 18 and 19.

They will be giving masterclas­ses and a concert at Aberystwyt­h on January 21, and the following Sunday, January 29, will find them up in Manchester giving a Festival performanc­e at the Royal Northern College of Music.

On Sunday, February 5, Cory will be giving a concert at Bradford Upon Avon, near Bath, and on the following Sunday, February 12, they are presenting a concert in the Forest Of Dean.

Unibr ass have a brass band competitio­n which is held at the Harrogate Internatio­nal Centre and there are 22 bands taking part.

Unibrass is the University Brass Band Championsh­ip of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

This contest takes place on February 18 and Cory have been asked to give a concert in the main auditorium of the Internatio­nal Centre after the competitio­n and they advertise Cory as “the number one ranked brass band... and the first band ever to complete the ‘Grand Slam’ being crowned British Open Champions, National Champions, European Champions and Brass in Concert Champions.

“Under their inspiratio­nal MD Phillip Harper they will be performing a full Gala Concert that promises to be a spectacula­r show.”
