Family values in a Mormon settlement

-

ROCKLAND Ranch is a unique community. In the middle of the Utah desert, 14 Mormon families have made a home for themselves where they are free to practise a way of life that’s met with both fascination and suspicion. Living in houses carved into the side of an enormous sandstone rock, half the men are polygamists, with multiple wives.

With unprecedented access to the community, this series offers a revealing insight into the everyday lives of modern polygamous families. With narratives as rich as any drama, the series explores how the families navigate the practical and emotional challenges of plural marriage and examines the values and beliefs that lie behind it.

Father of 16 Enoch Foster is one of the most influential men in the community and has two wives, Catrina and Lillian, who adore him and each other. Everyone at the ranch says the Fosters are the ones who make plural marriage look easy.

Now their family is set to expand again. Baby number 17 is due any day and Enoch is also courting a potential third wife, 25-year-old nanny Lydia Rose.

But as Enoch gears up for a proposal, doubts begin to surface and Lydia’s uncertainty threatens to unsettle the Foster household.

Enoch’s neighbour Abel Morrison knows better than anyone the challenges a third marriage can bring. His new wife Marina is struggling to contain her jealousy and to believe that he can possibly love her as much as his other wives.
