St John’s pupils win Rotary competition
ABERDARE Rotary Club has hailed its Young Presenter inter-schools competition an “outstanding success”.
The contest, which took place earlier this month, asked pupils in teams of three to prepare a 10-minute documentary on a set subject and present it under studio conditions.
They were tasked with researching, planning and presenting their documentary using computers, projectors, internet and video links.
This year’s topic was based around the proposal that “commercialism was invading childhood”.
And the winning team came from St John’s Church in Wales in Aberdare.
Peter Blake, from the club, said: “What wonderful, wellreasoned presentations were delivered, giving our three judges a really difficult decision to reach.
“Each participant received a certificate of congratulations, along with Rotary’s thanks to them and the head teachers and staff from all departments involved within the schools.”
